She wrote for the student newspaper and became involved with the Old Left socialist reform group. She graduated in 1947. Soon afterwards, she was hired as a reporter for The Winnipeg Citizen. The novel?was published?in 1964?and won?critical?acclaim,?thus laid the?important position of Margaret?in?Canadian?literature.
