Reading Activity 2 Recognizing Prefixes A prefix is a word or syllable(音节) put at the beginning of a word to change its meaning or add to its meaning. By recognizing prefixes, you will be able to learn many new words. Suffixes can also offer clues to meanings of new words as they usually just change the parts of speech(词性) of the base words. Here are some of the suffixes that you have already learned: A.
