Scorpius(天蝎座) Scorpius is one of the constellations of the zodiac(黄道十二星座). It lies between Libra(天秤座) to the west and Sagittarius（人马座） to the east. It is a large constellation located in the southern hemisphere near the center of the Milky Way（银河）. Antares is a class M supergiant star, with a diameter of approximately 700 times that of the sun; if it were placed in the center of our solar system, its outer surface would lie between the orbits(轨道) of Mars and Jupiter. Antares is approximately 600?light-years (180?pc) from our solar system. Its visual luminosity（绝对光度） is about 10,000 times that of the Sun.The mass of the star is calculated to be 15 to 18 solar masses.
