Body language plays a very important part in people’s communicating with others. In fact we have already known something about body language, as we have been using it a lot every day. Yet we can help the students know how people in different countries greet each other in their daily life by learning this reading passage. This reading passage is an exposition which introduces how people in different countries greet each other. First the passage introduces different means of communication that people use every day--- not only spoken words and written words but also body language. Then we can know how Europeans and Americans greet each other by shaking hands; how people in Asian countries greet each other and also the ways American youths greet each other. At last we can know that body language is fascinating and people can give away much more by their gestures than their words. Through this reading passage we must make the students bear in mind that when we are in a foreign contry, it is very important to know the meanings of gestures and movements in the country. Helping the students to master the reading ability of exposition is an important content of senior reading study.
