Introduce some background information to the students The Hyde School: In 1966, the 1st Hyde School was founded in Bath, Maine by Joseph W. Gauld in response to a system of education which he believed was failing its children. The Hyde curriculum The Hyde curriculum is based upon Five words, rather than five subjects: Courage, Integrity, Leadership, Curiosity, Concern Character education On the basis of relationships built upon honesty and concern, the Hyde program helps with students’ self-discovery by answering 3 questions: Who am I? Where am I going? What do I need to do to get there? A new student role Students, parents and faculty are required to help others to achieve their best. The Family Education program Educational reform must begin with the family because parents are primary teachers and the home is the primary classroom.
