Gansu College of T CM ( Gansu L an hou, 730000, China) Abstract Objective:To inquire into effects of Zenggu pill ( ZGP) on bone medullae insulinlike growth factor1 and Interleukin1in ovariectomized rats. Met ods:Fortyeight healthy female Wistar rats were ran domly divided into six groups:normal control group, model group, positive group and three ZGP groups (with high, moderate and low dosages respectively) .T he model group was excised a small part of mesentery and the other groups were ovariectomized bilaterally. They were put to death at the same time after three months. T hen took right femur,measured the content of insulinlike growth factor1 and Interleukin1in bone medul lae by RIA and ELISA.Results:The content of insulinlike growth factor1 in bone medullae of the high, mod erate dosage of ZGP and positive control group rats were more higher than those in the model group ( P 005) ,but the content of Interleukin1were much lower than that in the model group. Conclusion:The high and moderate ZGP can increase the content of insulinlike growth factor1 and decrease Interleukin1in bone medullae.So they have the effect of prevention and treatment to postmenopausal osteoporosis, and the effects might be related to the level of doses of ZGP.
