However, for a variety of reasons, there are still many products that are not described by the CAD model, and the designers and manufacturers are facing the prototype. In order to adapt to the development of advanced manufacturing technology, it is necessary to transform these objects into CAD model through some ways, so that they can use CAD, CAM and other advanced technologies to process. At present, the technology related to obtaining mathematical models of products from physical samples has developed into a relatively independent category in CAD and CAM, called Reverse Engineering. Through the reverse engineering, the CAD model of the object is reproduced, so that the products based on the material object can make full use of advanced technologies such as CAD and CAM in the process of design and manufacture. Reverse engineering has become one of the hot topics of advanced manufacturing technology in recent years because of the fact that reverse engineering can accurately and reliably copy real object samples in a short period of time. Using some non professional reverse design software (such as: UG, Pro/ENGINEER, CATIA etc.) and reverse design of some professional software (such as: Surfacer, CopyCAD, Trace etc.) of reverse design is a typical example of the present stage of reverse engineering in enterprise application. Because of the need for new product development, the author uses UG software to reverse the parts, and achieves better results in reverse modeling design of complicated stamping parts.
