The complete rock bolting technique w as emphatically introduced, including geomechan ics m easurements, rock bolting design, bolting m aterials, construction mi plements and technologies, quality check and monitoring, support types for special geological cond i tions. The application effects w ere d iscussed on the basis of two case studies: a roadw ay w ith very soft surround ing rock, and a deep gobside entry retaining. The practices pointed out that: rock bolting becomes the first and prmi ary support type w ith h igh safety and efficiency for Ch inese coalm ines, wh ich obviously mi proves roadw ay support effects, ensures safe and fast advance of coal faces, and brings about a great increase of coal output.
