Subject : A Research on Algorithm for Extending the Lifetime of Wireless Sensor Network Specialty : Signal and Information Processing Name : Ye Wei (Signature) Instructor: Professor Li Guomin (Signature) ABSTRACT Wireless sensor networks, which combines sensor technology and wireless network communication technology together, is widely used in the areas, such as environmental monitoring, city management, military and national defense, emergency disaster relief and dangerous zone remote control etc. However, the development of wireless sensor networks is limited by node energy constrained and zone hard to maintain. Therefore, rational use of energy to extend the network lifetime becomes one of the key technologies of wireless sensor networks. The protocol of wireless sensor networks is analyzed in this article, summarizing the existing hierarchical energy-saving optimization algorithms on physical layer, data link layer and network layer. The analysis indicates the optimization of network performance can be realized by the design of cross-layer optimization via information sharing between different layers. Therefore, in this article, base on JRMLOSNEC optimization algorithm and CDLMIWSN optimization algorithm, the developed cross-layer optimization algorithm with largest lifetime is approved in this article. On physical layer, the M-ary modulation order M is used as parameter of cross-layer optimization to set up the relationship model between data transfer time, launching rate and modulation order.
