It provides a direct ce _to_ ce cytop asmic pathway for materia transport and message transference, and converts the co onies of independent ce s into an interconnected symp ast system. Many evidences indicated that the p as modesmata coordinate gene expression and ce u ar physio ogica and biochemica processes . So that they p ay importment ro es in p ant growth and deve opment, as we as in the response and adapta tion of p ants to environmenta changes.
