We * searched the Web of Science based on the keywords “lithium” and “battery ”, and found 903 papers online from Aug. 1, 2013 to Sept. 30, 2013. 100 of them were selected to be highlighted. Layered oxide and high voltage spinel cathode materials are still under extensive investigations. Significant effort is devoted to Si based anode materials, composite carbonaceous anode, and additive for electrolytes. More publications are seen on Li/S battery, Li-air battery, theoretical simulations, cell analyses, modeling.
