Do you agree with the conclusion, “the ultimate responsibility of protecting himself rests with the consumer”? Why? Key Words (1) pharmacy errors (2) pharmacy transaction (3) drug-dispensing mistakes (4) increasing workloads (5) pharmacist and pharmacy technician (6) reimbursement (7) state board and local chain (8) prescription What does the text tell us? This passage tells us something about the pharmacy errors. As a rule ,the pharmacy`s proficiency and authority is little doubted. Because the pharmacy transaction is so easy to understand. But there is evidence suggesting that drug dispensing mistakes are more common than we think because of the increasing workloads. So we should know something to protect our family: we can not rely solely on our doctor; a white coat does not a pharmacist make; we could get the right drug, but the wrong does; the safety net has holes; little watchdog oversight exists. At the same time, we should know how to protect ourselves: take notes , inform everyone, check refills and stop off peak. Language Notes 1. The new prescription that her mother, Peggie, had gotten filled at the Rite Aid in Rock Hill, S.C., was for Ritalin, a drug used to treat attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder. (新处方上开的药是利他林,这是她母亲佩吉在南卡罗来纳州洛克山的莱特相助药店配的药,一种用来治疗注意力亢奋不足而紊乱的药。) prescription: an instruction written by a medical practitioner that authorizes a patient to be issued with a medicine or treatment. e.g. He scribbled a prescription for tranquillizer. 2. The pharmacy industry insists that worries over error rates are overblown. (配药业坚决认为对出错率的担忧被过分渲染了。) overblown: excessively inflated or prete
