Printed version for information only June 2010 Chemical resistance test of BMW Group surfaces AA-0055 Labortechnik Beständigkeitsprüfung von Page 7 of 12 Oberflächen gegenüber Chemikalien 8 Purpose This work instruction describes the test media and methods used in the chemical resistance test of surfaces. 2 Scope of Application This document is valid for the BMW Group Technical Laboratory. 3 Procedure and Responsibilities 3.1 Terms Abbreviations, terms and symbol explanations are included in the MPM DMS System and are available online. Further explanation of abbreviations is possible through the corresponding link on the Quality- Homepage of the Labortechnik. 3.2 Sample preparation Flat test plates are used with the paint structure being tested, respectively flat part samples of other surfaces. The test materials are applied to a standard test plate or suitable flat test plate under near-series conditions (plant-specific structure, coat thicknesses, dry and baking temperatures, etc.). The test is carried out after the paint coat has aged for at least 48 h, plastic paints are tested after aging for at least 168 h. The test samples must be stored before the test for at least 24 h in a normal climate DIN 50 014 – 23/50-2. 3.3 Used equipment - Burette or shaking funnel and collecting vessel - Micro pipette (adjusting range 25µL / 100µL) - Temperature gradient oven - Forced air hot cabinet - Automatic pipette - Hot plate - Stopwatch - Test media (see table 2 – 4 p. 5f) 3.4 Test The tests are carried out in a normal climate DIN 50 014 – 23/50-2.
