第一版 PAGE 1 Title: Haikou Post CONGRATULATIONS! As Mayor of Haikou, I would like to send my sincere congratulations on the publication of the inaugural edition of the Haikou Post. Hainan’s drive to become an international tourism island is fully underway. In tandem with this campaign, Haikou, as the capital city of Hainan, is currently engaged in a series of actions that aim to achieve its goal of becoming a dynamic and recreational city. The publication of this inaugural edition of the Haikou Post, the first ever English language newspaper in Hainan, represents a commendable effort to help international friends better understand the local people and their culture. This historical milestone also highlights our determination to forge ahead with the development of our international tourism island. I anticipate that this monthly newspaper will present our international friends with information on famous tourist attractions, local culture, transport, entertainment and cuisine. It will also update them with what is happening in town, and, to a lesser extent, elsewhere on the island.
