During the recent years many ex periments report ed evidences o f wall slip o ccurring in a fluid film f low . T he flow behavior and hy dro dy namic respo nse of a fluid film co nf ined betw een tw o so lid surfaces are studied in t he present paper. It is found that wall slip dramatically affects hydro dy namics of t he fluid f ilm. T he hydro dy nam ic pressure is not o nly affected by the fluid viscosit y and g ap g eometry, but also stro ng ly controlled by w all slip and by what a surface moves. By controlling the surface adhesio n property , ev en a zero frictio n surface can be obtained. On t he other hand, if the tw o surfaces of a sliding gap have the same slip property , a critical sliding speed ex ists for t he fluid hy drodynamic response t o tot ally disappea r. In pure ro lling, how ever, a considerable hydrodynamic response still ex ists even the surface limit ing shea r stress is small.
