We will discuss The English Renaissance, The Age of Romanticism, The Age of Realism, and etc. We will read plays by Shakespeare, novels by Jane Austen and Charles Dickens, a few poems by Wordsworth, Byron, and Shelley, and some other literary texts. Readings A Short History of English Literature Selected Readings in English and American Literature Schedule Every Monday Requirements: You are expected to prepare the text which we will discuss beforehand. You need to listen attentively in the class. If you have any questions, you can put up your hand. If we cannot solve it in the class, we can leave it after the class. You need to prepare a notebook. When you prepare the text before class, look up the dictionary when necessary. Take down the sentences and paragraphs which you think valuable. In the class, You should take down notes. After class, I may leave some questions for you. You can finish it in your notebook. In addition, you are expected to do some research which can enrich your understanding of the text. d.
