Brief Paper ACTA AUTOMATICA SINICA Vo1．34，No．12 December，2008 Fault Detection of Networked Control Systems Based on Optimal Robust Fault Detection Filter WANG Yong-Qiang YE Hao DING X．Steven WANG Gui．Zeng A bstract Fault detection of networked control systems (NCSs)with random and unknown network-induced delay that might be larger than one sampling period is studied in this paper． First，influence caused by network-induced delay is transformed into structured modeling error，then an existent continuous time domain robust fault detection method based on reference model is extended to discrete time domain an d applied to fauit detec- tion of networked control systerns．The proposed method can be easily implemented by M atlab LMI toolbox，and its performance is fin~ly evaluated by a simulation example． Key words Networked control system(NCS)，fault detection filter(FDF)，linear matrix ineqnality(LMI)，network-induced delay Networked control systenls fNCSs1 are feedback control systems wherein the control loops are closed through real- time networkst 一．Compared with traditional centralized control structure，this new network based control scheme reduces system wiring，eases maintenance and diagnosis， an d increases system agility,which makes NCS a promis— ing structure for controll 一 1． However．the introduction of networks also brings some new problems and challenges， such as network．induced delay[ 一9l， packet dropout[ 0一． etc． Nowadays，NCS is mainly used in spacecraft，mall- ufacturing plants，vehicles，and many other complicated control systems，where safety is of primary concern．How- ever，compared with the rich results in control and stability analysis of NCS，study on fault detection(FD)of NCS has just begun．So far，only a limited number of contributions on FD ofNCS cal be foundt15-20J． The key issue in FD of NCS is how to deal with the network—induced delay，which includes a sensor-to- controller delay and a controler-to-actuator delay．In f171， the delay was suppose
