Forward-Team 1 Annual 10,000 tons Dimethyl-ether (DME) Production Project from Sugarcane Bagasse( Bagasse Pith) Abstract School: Guangxi University Team: Forward Teammates: Liaochenyi Luxiangjiao Luomei Wangfang Xuliang Forward-Team 2 SUMMARY Dimethyl-ether (known as DME) is used as a new alternative energy with great potential and market prospect. It not only can be used to replace the liquefied petroleum gas (short for LPG) and diesel, but also has greater advantages over them, which is attracting international extensive attention. Nowadays, with the rapid development of economy and society in China, the demand for petroleum is increasing enormously, which badly requires an alternative energy to limit the increasing oil price and change the situation. Developing coal-based methanol-ether (DME) mixed fuel is beneficial to improve the situation of the insufficiency of petroleum. Besides, environmental pollution is becoming more and more serious, which is requesting the development of environmentally friendly industry and new energy to achieve truly CO2 “zero emissions” and the improvement of air pollution. 1. Concise Process Descriptions Using sugarcane bagasse, the characteristic biomass resource in Guangxi as the raw material, H2 and CO2 is prepared by the method of supercritical water gasification in the system of supercritical CO2/ionic liquids. And the DME is produced by the coupling of hydrogenation reaction of CO2 and separation over a new-designed compound catalyst—neutral chloroaluminate ionic liquids/CuO-ZnO catalyst, then DME with a purity of more than 99 % is prepared by adsorption and distillation process.
