June 2003 1 June 2003 New Chemistry Building on Cam- pus - Progress Report In April 2004 the Chemistry Department will be moving into purpose-built accommodation in a new building at the OU Walton Hall campus. Work on the new building has progressed quickly, and construction has been blessed with quite a long spell of fine weather. It is understood that several impor- tant decisions had to be made at short notice, and the Dean of Science was involved in se- lecting the facing bricks for the new building. Not to be outdone, our President was invited to a conducted tour of the building during which, we are told, she chose the artwork. OUCS AGM AND LECTURE WEEKEND IN THE MIDLANDS 1-2 NOVEMBER 2003 The Society is holding the 2003 Annual General Meeting and Lecture weekend at the Great Barr Hotel, Birming- ham. In previous years, the weekend has been an enjoy- able event, mixing chemistry, conversation and business. Why not come and meet leading scientists and hear them talk about their work, and have your say in what OUCS should be doing for the members?
