Unit Objectives
By the end of the unit you will:
Be aware that the content and style of a piece of information will affect its fitness for a particular purpose by considering:
- mix of fact or opinion
- purpose (to publicise advertise or entertain)
- viewpoint being offered
- clarity
- user friendliness
- how believable it is
be able to weigh up critically how well a piece of information will help with a task by considering purpose and audience
be able to give a reason for using a particular information source to help an investigation or presentation considering its accuracy, validity and reliability
extend and refine search methods to be more efficient by using AND, OR, NOT and synonyms
be able to explain the advantages of the methods used by different search engines and programs to look for data in different formats
