Network settings required to connect computer(Hybrid Control Designer) to HC900 Controller. Ethernet communication between a computer and the HC900 is accomplished using a standard 10-baseT (RJ45 Phone style connectors) cabling between the computer network port and the HC900 ‘E1’ port. Do not use The HC900 ‘I/O’ port, it is strictly used for remote racks and not used for programming purposes. In order to communicate with the HC900, the computer must be on the same ethernet (TCP/IP) network as the HC900. Since the HC900 TCP/IP address is 192.168.1.254, your computer may have any other address on 192.168.1.XXX subnet. (i.e. – from 1 to 253). Take the following steps in MS-Windows XP to modify your computer network address: Make the following selection from the windows menu – ‘Start-Settings-Control Panel-Network Connections’. Under ‘Network Connections’ highlight ‘Local Area Connection’ Right mouse click ‘Local Area Connection’ and select ‘Properties’ from the drop down menu. From the ‘Local Area Connection’ window scroll down the list entitled ‘This connection uses the following items’ and select ‘Internet Protocol’ From the ‘Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties’ window select the ‘Use the following IP address’ Enter the following network settings; IP Address: 192.168.1.1 Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0 (this field should fill automatically) All other fields can be left empty. vii.) Close all windows in reverse order by selecting ‘Ok’ to save the new network address. In order to use the computer on a DHCP network (one which automatically assigns network settings) such as typical of hotel internet connections you must remove the ‘static’ network address information described above and make the following selections in ‘Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties’ Select the ‘Obtain IP address automatically’ radio button.
