Author highlights the relationship between culture and language, communication and culture, briefly introduce the current situation in foreign language teaching: students have received a set of strict grammatical rules and good grades, but they frequently remain deficient in the ability to actually use English and to understand its appropriate use in normal intercultural communication. Misunderstandings caused by cultural differences have involved them frequently in intercultural miscommunication. Then author puts up with the definition of intercultural communicational competence by qualitative research and lists the crucial components in effective intercultural communication competence, analyze the practical examples in ‘College English’ from pragmatic angle, dem
