Bunkering procedures should be followed as shown in the ships operation manual. The main points are listed in the following: Before bunkering The responsible engineer should consult with the chief officer in advance and make bunkering plan with consideration of, but not limited to the following items: √The movement of the vessel, date and time and place of the Bunkering. √FO volume (in metric ton). √Type of FO. √Viscosity (in Centi-stokes at 50℃). √Density The bunking plan must be approved by the chief engineer. Get every thing ready for bunkering, including but not limited to the following: √All scuppers plugged by carpenter (or bosun); √Save all put if necessary; √Pollution response tools and materials such as rags, sawdust and fire fighting equipment prepared; √Stop and start signal/order and pumping rate agreed; √Engine room staff appointed; communication system set up and tested; √Red light and B flag displayed; √Checklist finished.
