Choosing a reform mode of the farmland usage right system is of significance to protect the farmers’ lang right, to improve the efficiency in the use of agricultural land, to promote the optimal allocation of agricultural land resources. This paper brings Marxs theory of land ownership as a guide and use Western economists’ theory of land ownership and research method for reference to study the reform mode of farmland usage right system in our country. It not only analyzes the history of reform of farmland usage right system in China and the drawbacks existing in the land contract ual management system but also comments on the different practice modes of the reform of farmland usage right system in our country, based on which a program to improve the current land contract ual management system is proposed.
