三、表述个人观点的问题： Both captain and first officer make decisions on the flight deck. What changes have occurred to how decisions are made on the flight deck since you have been a pilot? Do you think these changes have been good or bad for pilots? Answer: since I have been a pilot in 1996?, I have been flying for about 11 years. When I was a first officer, most captains were not so eager to listen to others’ opinions and first officers were always reluctant to raise different ideas. However, since the introduction of the concept of CRM (Crew Resource Management) into Civil Aviation Industry and being reinforced consistently, pilots learn to know that nobody is flawless, and the best way to prevent making mistakes is to have others watch your back. Gradually, first officers are encouraged to speak out their ideas and captains are willing to hear from others. When both of the crew agree on an issue, they make a decision. I think this has been a good change not only for the pilots, but also for flight safety. How do you think the controller and pilot relationship will change in the future? Do you have any suggestions about how the communications between pilot and aircraft controllers could be improved? What role do you think technology could have in this? Answer: I think in the future the present Controller role may be changed into the role of Servicer. Instead of controlling the aircraft, more emphasis may be put on how to provide better service for pilots and how to facilitate better air traffic. For the improvement on communication between pilots and controllers, I think since the air traffic is growing so rapidly, to reduce the unnecessary communication between every single aircraft and the controller is a relief to controllers’ work load, also good to flight safety. To do this, the wider usage of Radar Navigation Procedure is a good way, especially in departure and approach areas of busy airports.
