Lesson 1 Jobs Part 1 Analysis of the Teaching Material “English (Basic module) (Volume 1)” is an excellent English teaching material published by Higher Education Press. It is the trial teaching material for Secondary Vocational School. The topic of my lesson today “Jobs” is chosen from this book. It is the Lesson one in Chapter eight--the last chapter in the book. After studying this lesson, the students can grasp the words and phrases about jobs and also will be able to talk about their ideal career. This lesson “jobs” is the first lesson in the chapter eight “Work”, it is the basis of this chapter, the students need learn it well. After they master the English name of different jobs and their skills, then they can study the next two lessons: “Finding a Job ” and “Applying for a job.” Important Points: a) Identify different job titles. b) Master the grammar-past tense. Difficult Points: a) Can talk about jobs in English in real situation. b) Can change the sentences into different forms of past tense. Part 2 Analysis of the teaching object As the first-year vocational school students, they have a certain ability to listen, read, speak and write. But their English is still poor, especially in speaking. In the vocational school, most of the students prefer to the professional courses, they do not have much interest in the public course, especially English. And compared with senior middle school students, they don’t like the “teacher-centered” class, they like to study in a relaxed atmosphere. So as a teacher, I will give them more chance to practice, to express their ideas. When they meet problems, I will encourage them to discuss with their classmates, try to develop the students’ self-learning and cooperative learning ability. Part 3 Teaching aims 1.
