As a master of humor as well as an excellent novelist, Mark Twain established a new milestone for America even the world in the field of literature which won him the great honor—“father of modern American literature.” What impresses the readers most is his special humor and satire. This paper mainly discusses the different writing styles in three of Mark Twain’s works from three stages of his life. In addition, the paper tries to analyze the basic elements that affect the different writing styles of Mark Twain and the influence of such these writing styles. The application of the humor and satire is to show that the works of Mark Twain are masterpiece with profound connotation and to display that Mark Twain is a giant in literature. The use of different writing styles suggests that Mark Twain has made unprecedented great achievements in the history of American literature.
