To measure the volume flow rate or the velocity is very important in the areas such as the air flow meter in the vehicle, the air input of a vehicle or the analysis about an airplane. Usually, “Flow meter” is the device that engineers use to measure the volume flow rate of a fluid. There are numbers of variable types of “Flow meter” used nowadays, but the simplest type is fundamental by the pressure changed from either an obstruction in the flow or a change in duct cross-sectional area. Two kinds of commonly used meters are venturi flow meters and orifice flow meters. The venturi flow meter is reliable and satisfies repeatable measurements. It is comprised of a reduction in the pipe area, followed by a short section of straight (smaller diameter) pipe followed by a gradual expansion. The changes in duct area are gradual so that the flow does not separate (i.e. “break away” from the duct walls), so there is small energy loss in the venture flow meter system that the intrusive effect on the system being measured is small.In contrast, orifice plates are the cheapest and easiest metering devices to install since the orifice can be simply clamped between pipe flanges.
