Problems in the Acquisition of English Listening Ability by Chinese Undergraduate Students of Non―E Introduction Currently, with the improvement of standard in learning English, innovative teaching and acquiring techniques have not caught up with it so that more problems of learning English listening are prone to be an obstacle in language acquisition. Many theories and hypothesis in Second Language Acquisition (SLA) and Linguistics aim at discovering the nature of language acquisition process, and then provide substantial guidance for addressing problems arising during the learning. But, before solving the issues appeared in English listening of general college students, the importance of building block in language learning need to be attached, otherwise these theories could not function well in practice. I Building Blocks College students, as Second Language (SL) learners, do not possess the intense awareness of building block in language acquisition, namely, pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar. Therefore, during the course of their English learning, they have not attached enough importance to the basis of one language and then lack of substantial foundations which could lead to more mastery of this language. In particular, this deficiency could be mirrored conspicuously in the listening ability. A Pronunciation Scarcity of original learning process of English as mother tongue, acquisition of its sound system could lend great support to the consciousness of language in which learners could receive amount of input by means of listening frequently. However, it is a universal phenomenon that short of comprehensive learning of English phonemes.
