Hope English II Unit 2 Environment Period One Teaching Objectives: Ss develop a vocabulary list suited to the theme. Ss can use the vocabulary and the sentence patterns to make sentences. Ss are able to ask and answer questions about environment and give a report. Teaching Procedures: I. Lead in Questions: Q1: How do you feel about the environment where you live? Q2: Have you noticed any changes in the environment over the years? If yes, what are the possible causes? Q3: Who can you tell me the types of pollutions? (air pollution, noise pollution, water pollution, thermal pollution热污染(高温废液或汽体对环境产生的不利影响, Marine pollution海洋污染pollution, Nuclear hazards, global warming, acid rain, ozone layer depletion 消耗臭氧层 ) Picture 1 Air pollution Picture 2 water pollution Picture 3 noise pollution Picture 4 marine pollution II. Speaking Task 1 Look at the pictures on Page 18 and list words or phrases about them. Ss choose one of the pictures. Ss list five words about this picture. List the words on the board or invite one student to write them on the board. Choose another picture and repeat the above steps. Add some of the following words to the word list and explain why these words are useful to the theme. Suggested words: Harm field nature protection pollution smoke improve heavy traffic damage disease serious mountain Task 2: Use the following sentence patterns and the words or phrases from Task 1 to talk about the pictures.
