I’m delighted to show you around the Pavilion today. Tengwang Pavilion, standing by the Gan River, is one of three famous pavilions south of the Yangtze River. Tengwang Pavilion’s fame has been spread far and wide, due to the masterpiece, Preface to the collection of Poems, written at Tengwang Pavilion, authored by Wang Bo, one of the four famous poets in the early Tang dynasty. Tengwang Pavilion was firstly built by the governor Li Yuanying. He used it as a dancing hall. Because Li Yuanying had been honored with the title King Teng, the pavilion was then named Tengwang Pavilion. Along the course of history the pavilion was rebuilt for many times. The present one was reconstructed and redecorated in 1989 with the design of Song dynasty architecture style. The magnificent pavilion adds to beauty of the ancient city of Nanchang and attracts thousands of tourists from both home and abroad. Tengwang Pavilion is 57.5m high and covers an area of 13000 square meters. Its base consists of a 12-meter high two-tier platform, symbolizing the ancient city wall. Above this platform is the main structure, consisting of three visible stories and four invisible ones. Therefore, although it looks from the outside there are only three stories, in fact there are seven stories inside. There are four boards beneath the eaves of the first floor. On the board
