Wing is a hearing impaired person who knows sign language and is able to communicate with the hearing community by lip reading and writing. Though having completed secondary schooling, Wing, like many new young entrants to the job market, had neither specific goals for life and work nor detailed career planning. He tried hard to seek employment but to little avail. Soon after graduation, Wing targetted at finding a job as a junior clerk, as he realised that he lacked experience. Though Wing was willing to work his way up from the bottom, he was rejected time and again because nowadays employers generally require a clerk to master multi tasks yet Wing’s hearing and speech impairment hampered his abilities to perform some basic clerical duties such as providing reception service and answering phone calls. He had once been hired as a temporary data entry clerk, but had to rejoin the unemployed workforce and start job hunting again after he finished the short-term contract. Wing became disheartened as his ambition ebbed with several years of vain attempts in job search. At one point, he started to lose motivation and simply stayed at home all day long, giving up job-seeking.
