As a kind of tourism resource of Xishuangbanna, the traditional dwelling plays a good role in promoting the development of lo- cal tourism economy. However, as many newly-built dwellings of Dai people in the local village are being greatly changed in their structure, the unique features of the bamboo building are fading. As a result, this folk tourism resource is gradually dying. On analyz- ing the aesthetic characteristics of bamboo building and how to preserve the tourism resource, this paper discusses the issue of protect- ing the traditional dwelling and retaining the tourism resource to promote the sustainable development of tourism economy in Xish- uangbanna.
