Grindstone Gazette Page 1 GRINDSTONE GAZETTE ISSUE 156 - SPRING 2015 It has been a while since the last Gazette was published. We have great board members who volunteer their time to run the GCOA, but it is just that, a volunteer position. We all have full time jobs, extracurricular activities in our lives, or family responsibilities that sometimes come first. The truth is we need more help; we need more volunteers to join our Board. We need new members with fresh ideas. Im not the legal expert on our team, but I understand that without board members carrying out our bylaws, we dont really have an association. Without an association we dont have a voice with the Government. Without an association we dont have an incorporation, and without an incorporation we dont have the liability insurance required to do the things we do (the most important being Grindstone Days). It would be a shame to lose Grindstone days after 35+ years of celebrations. Our board has had very little change since I moved to Grindstone in 2007. I joined the board right away because I wanted to meet people in Grindstone and be a part of the community as quickly as I could. Eight years later, I covet the friendships I developed through the board and hope that I can continue those friendships long after my career on the board. I hope that some of the newer members of our Association will come forward and help formulate the next chapter of Grindstone and the Association.
