Read on  Phrasal Verbs and Idioms To read off to read a list out loud for someone to write down e.g.: Hey, Bob, please read off that list of Items we need for the party. I wasnt listening to you when you said it before. To Read out to read out loud rather than silently e.g.: The teacher asked Tommy to read out the 5 pages from Othello. To read up on to research something because of a reason e.g.: I ought to read up on the company on its website before I go for that interview with them / I need to read up on that private school before deciding to send my kid there. Idioms: to read someones mind to know what someones thinking or feeling e.g.: how did you know I wanted the spinach omelete, did you read my mind? - you mind reader. Bonus idiom: read my lips Telling someone to listen carefully, to pay attention, to state something very clearly, to emphasize something e.g.: Read my lips - I will not raise taxes! Note: lip-reading is a skill that many deaf people have acquired. They can literally read your lips and understand what you are saying without hearing your words. Pretty amazing. AJERSS There are a lot of language learning uses for Mp3 technology nowadays. For instance, its very easy to record your voice and a great way to practice your reading. Why not make your own audio books. If youve got a book that youre using -a graded reader for example- you can record yourself reading it as if youre the narrator. Firstly, youre going to get speaking and reading practice, and secondly, youll be able to work on your pronunciation. Moreover, youll be able to listen to how you sound, and youll get that listening practice. You could share your audiobooks with an online community or learning group. The books don’t have to be long either. So, make your own audiobook with your English book
