ABSTRACT:Normalgas- liquid separator is a gravity sedmi entation tank, w hich has the characteristics of smi ple
structure and so on, but the equipmentvolume ishuge, occupies big area, and the processing tmi e is long. ased on
computational fluid dynam icmethod, the smi ulation of a normalvertical- vesseltype centrifugalgas- liquid separator
was carried out, by using G ambit and F luent softpacks. It is found that the axialsymmetry of the flow field is bad,
the gas- contentnear underflow outlet ishigher, w hich indicates that the separating effectof the separator isnot satis-
factory. Through structuraloptmi ization, including changing the underflow outlet from side to bottom, designing doub-
le inlets, reducing the vessel diameter, extending the overflow tube to the bottom of inlet tube, changing the bottom
part of the separator from cylindrical to conical structure, et a.l , the axial symmetry characteristic of the separator
flow field and gas phase distribution w ere mi proved, thusmaking the separation effect mi proved, and the air content
nearby, the wall surface of the cone section and the undercurrent exports become very low, then to enhance its sepa-
ration effect. The expermi entalstudy shows that separators separation performance is good, and the selection of smi u-
lationmodel is correct.
