The results show ed that Ch-l a contents in Beihai Bay w ere not high, which w ere higher in spring and low er in autum n. It w as possibly caused by the changes of the environmental conditions. T he correlation analysis show ed that the main factors influenced the Ch-l a contents in this bay w ere salinity, transparency and COD, which w as more obvious in sum- mer. The relationship betw een nutrient salt and Ch-l a show ed the positive correlation in spring and summ er when the supply was full from land, and the negative correlation in autumn and w inter when the supply w as short from land.
