T he silica particles w ere ob tained by hydrolysis of tetraethy l orthosilicate ( TEOS) in ethano lm edium u se amm on ium as cata lyst and a deta iled study w as carried ou t on the e ffect o f d ifferent tem p erature am ount o f amm onium and TEOS on p artic le sizes and the disp ersion. The stru cture of the sam p le w as exam ined by XRD and the chem ical bond o f the sam ple surface w as exam ined by FT IR. T he p art icle size and the dispersion w ere exam ined under scanning electron m icroscopy and tran sm ission electron m icroscopy. T he results obta ined in th is study show ed tha t the high hydrolysis temp erature sp eed up the S iO2 cong lom eration in the so lution. M ore over the particle size and the d isp ersion
