Haiga is a Japanese literary genre that combines a visual image with a short, subtly-linked poem (usually haiku, senryu or tanka). Classic haiga used simple ink brush strokes and calligraphy. David Giacalone, of Schenectady, NY, wrote the poems appearing in this Calendar.
