Methods Data collected for analysis were from records of 1 000 patients with elevated lood lipids from 17 hospitals of Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. Results Mean levels of lood lipids were: total cholesterol (TC) 6. 55 mmol/ L, low density lipoprotein cholesterol ( LDL-C) 4. 10 mmol/ L, triglycerides (TG) 2. 89 mmol/ L, and high density lipoprotein cholesterol ( HDL-C) 1. 27 mmol/ L efore treatment and 5. 56, 3. 40, 2. 11 and 1. 32 mmol/ L respectively after treatment, showing significant lowering for the first three lipids. Cases attaining the goals of therapy recommended y China. s Guidelines for Control of Blood Lipids Disorders constituted for TC 27. 4% , LDL-C 31. 6% , TG 42. 9% , and for all three together 10. 1% . Drugs used included statins 59. 0% , fi rates 23.7% , and her drugs 11.4% . Conclusion Currently the majority of patients receiving drug therapy for lipid disorders did not attain levels of recommended goals.
