This slide was provided by Mary M. Horowitz, MD, and illustrates several important points. The first is that the original agenda for the BMT CTN was established by a State of the Science Symposium, held in 2000, that identified 7 focus areas for developing hematopoietic cell transplantation trials. An updated State of the Science meeting took place in 2007. ? This timeline shows the numbers of clinical trials that have been developed and opened by the BMT CTN since its establishment in 2001, with the current number at 18. It also shows the numbers of patients who have been enrolled on these trials over time, and this number now has reached 3000. Many of these trials have been conducted in collaboration with the cancer cooperative groups, and we have worked very hard to include the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group, the Southwest Oncology Group, the Cancer and Leukemia Group B, and the Children’s Oncology Group in the activities of BMT CTN in order to collaborate in a combined effort that is not in competition.
