As we come on the air, a lot of news breaking tonight, including all the wrangling to head off a government shutdown, and we’ll be giving the latest on all that in just a moment. But first, gasoline prices. The issue putting put so much stress American families. Everybody driving a car, everybody in a carpool. And today, gasoline prices were up for the 15th straight day, hitting $3.71 a gallon, oil at a two-year high. The president felt compelled to weigh in. And ABC’s Barbara Pinto is in Chicago for us tonight. Tells us what the prices are at that station, Barbara? Reporter: Diane, it’s a whop. Here and most of the nation braces for $4 gas prices. That’s a painful reality here. Take a good look. $4.29 for a gallon of regular unleaded, $4.53 for a gallon of premium. Out on the west coast and here on the heartland, filling up will leave you with a empty wallet. For Karen Slimmon, minivan driver and mother of four, her morning run was a wake up call. I did have sticker shock. It was $76 to fill up a tank of gas! Reporter: That is almost as much as she paid for all of these groceries to feed her family.
