Instrumental Music Training Scheme of Music Office Recruitment for 2008/09 Intermediate Year One Advanced Year One Courses The Instrumental Music Training Scheme (IMTS) of the Music Office, which offers a comprehensive course of music training, inclusive of musicianship and music theory, has a current enrolment of nearly 5,000 trainees from beginners to advanced level. Weekly one hour group lessons are conducted in Cantonese at a designed music centre. This scheme comprises 3 independent courses of training: a 2-year Elementary Course, a 3-year Intermediate Course a 3-year Advanced Course. Trainees will be issued a certificate of attendance upon completion of each course. Annual tuition fees (Elementary Year-1 －$1,260, Elementary Year-2 －$1,540, Intermediate Year-1 to 3 －$2,420 and Advanced Year-1 to 3 － $3,190) are payable in 4 instalments. The Music Office is now recruiting Intermediate Year-1 and Advanced Year-1 trainees for the 2008/09 Instrumental Music Training Scheme. Young people of suitable musical standards are welcome to apply. (Note : Recruitment for Beginners’ course will take place in July) I. Entry Requirements Intermediate Year-1 (I-1) – The standard of the 3-year Intermediate Course is similar to that of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) Grade 3-5. Applicants are, thus, required to have attained ABRSM Practical Examinations Grade 2 or equivalent standard. Note: (i) This training programme is not suitable for trainees who have attained ABRSM Grade 3 standard or above.
